Rome summary

I'm sure everyone will agree Rome is a truly magnificent city. However, it takes quite some patience to survive in the Italian way of living. Here are some thoughts and ideas about what to look out for, what to do and see in no particular order.

To see:

  • Forum/Palatine/Colloseum. Get tickets from Via della Salara Vecchia, 5 and don't rush early in the morning - in the afternoon there was no line and we still had plenty of time (took us up to 3 hours) to see the Forum and Palatine. The ticket is valid for 2 days, so see the Colloseum the next day. The audio tour is not worth it - better get a good guide book and just read the signs all over the site.

  • During rush hour (5-7pm) it is nearly impossible to get on the metro, especially stations close to Termini. You'll have more luck if you wait at the very front or rear of the train.
